9 Best Things to Do in Cabo: Unforgettable Adventures and Ultimate Relaxation

I spent seven unforgettable days in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, and had the time of my life! Typically, I give a day-by-day account of my adventures, but today, I’m shaking things up. Instead, I’m sharing the best things to do in Cabo San Lucas, all inspired by my personal experience. Everything I’m writing about,  I have done and highly recommend, and I’ve linked everything for your convenience.

Let’s dive in!

1. Relax at Your Resort

One of the best parts of traveling is soaking up the amenities at your resort. Whether it’s breathtaking views, all-inclusive packages, pools and jacuzzis, a spa day, or resort activities, the experience is designed to help you unwind.

We stayed at the Hilton Los Cabos, perfectly situated between Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo. The resort is right on the water, so you can either dip your toes in the Sea of Cortez or watch the waves crash onto the beach from their stunning infinity pools. With swim-up bars and exceptional service, your drink will never run dry.

Grab that book you’ve been meaning to finish, order a frozen margarita, and lounge by the pool. But don’t spend your whole vacation at the resort (unless you want to)—you’re in a vibrant, beautiful destination. Go explore!

2. Burro Hiking Experience at Ranchero Carisuva

This eco-tourism ranch offers unforgettable experiences while prioritizing conservation of the environment and its animals. Ranchero Carisuva is home to horses, chickens, goats, donkeys, and more.

Located on Migriño Beach, the ranch provides transportation if needed and recommends you wear comfortable shoes, a light jacket, and sunscreen. Before the hike, you’ll meet the donkeys, then set out on a 1-hour and 45-minute hike along the beach and up a small mountain with breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean.

I loved getting to know the ranchers from France and witnessing a stunning sunset over the ocean.

3. Explore El Arco & Lover’s Beach by Boat

Take a boat ride to see El Arco, the famous natural rock formation carved out by the Sea of Cortez and the Pacific Ocean. Along the way, your boat will pass iconic spots like the Sea Lion Colony, Pirates’ Cave, and Pelican Rock.

The water is crystal-clear, offering glimpses of tropical fish swimming below. You’ll see pelicans perched on rocks and hear the chatter of sea lions echoing across the bay. Many tours let you snorkel or relax at Lover’s Beach, where we spent some unforgettable moments.

4. Get a Massage at Eden Spa

Whether you’re traveling solo, as a couple, or with a group, a massage is the perfect way to unwind. We opted for a couples’ massage at Eden Spa, and it was amazing.

From the moment we arrived, we were pampered. Cold towels cooled us from the Mexican heat, and we were treated to chilled water bottles and fruit-infused water. Our private room set the tone for ultimate relaxation.

At just $40 USD per person for a 60-minute massage, it’s an unbeatable deal. I wish I could go back right now!

5. Go Sandboarding in the Dunes

Looking for an adrenaline-filled adventure? Head to the dunes outside Cabo San Lucas to try sandboarding, a thrilling activity that’s like snowboarding—but on sand! It’s the perfect choice for beginners, and our guide, Daniel, made the entire experience smooth and enjoyable.

The tour begins with a scenic drive to the dunes, where Daniel provides everything you need: sandboards, wax for the boards, and even some celebratory drinks to wrap up the day. After a quick safety briefing and a few practice runs, you’ll be gliding down the golden slopes with the Sea of Cortez as your foreground.

At first, I was nervous about falling, but with Daniel’s patience and helpful tips, I quickly got the hang of it. The warm sand makes for a soft landing if you tumble, so it's all part of the fun. By the end, I felt like a pro and couldn’t get enough of the rush of sliding down those massive dunes!

This adventure is perfect for anyone looking to step outside their comfort zone and try something unique in Cabo. Bonus: The views from the dunes are absolutely spectacular—bring your camera for some epic shots, and a good case because it WILL get dusty!

6. Sunset Cruise on the Cabo Blue

There’s nothing like a sunset cruise in Cabo. We sailed on the Cabo Blue, which has an open bar, tasty chips and salsa, and lively music. You’ll pass famous sights like Divorce Beach and El Arco before watching the sunset over the Pacific Ocean.

The cruise started out scenic and relaxing but quickly turned into a party as the sun dipped below the horizon. We even danced the Macarena! This experience is great for families, anniversaries, bachelor/bachelorette parties, or anyone looking to celebrate life.

7. Take a Day Trip to Todos Santos

An hour north of Cabo San Lucas, you'll find the beautiful town of Todos Santos, a Pueblo Mágico (Magical Town) known for its vibrant art scene, colonial architecture, and bohemian charm. Nestled between the Sierra de la Laguna mountains and the Pacific Ocean, the town has a slower, more relaxed pace compared to Cabo San Lucas.

To get there, you can rent a car or take an air-conditioned bus to the town. It's quite easy taking the bus if you choose to do so, and the tickets are less than $20 USD per person roundtrip. But if you prefer more freedom and a quicker arrival and departure, a rental car is for you.

In this town, you can visit the iconic Hotel California, grab the best margaritas at Tequila's Sunrise, and take a Sky Tour over the ocean with Robert.

The sky tour is absolutely amazing—you'll glide over the town of La Pescadero and the Pacific Ocean, and if you're visiting during the right season, you might even spot whale pods leaping out of the water.

8. Thursday Art Walk in San José del Cabo

Every Thursday evening, the streets of San José del Cabo come alive during the Art Walk. We booked a guide, Carlos, Personal Concierge who introduced us to the local art scene. We explored handcrafted beaded art, admired works by local artists, and enjoyed the vibrant atmosphere of the town square.

The evening ended with drinks at a rooftop bar overlooking the square, offering a perfect view of the sunset.

Honorable Mention:

9. Sandbar Los Cabos

Although our plans at the Sandbar Los Cabos were interrupted by a tropical storm, this spot still deserves an honorable mention for its incredible setting and offerings. Nestled right on the beach with stunning views of the Cabo arches, this open-air massage venue is a gem for relaxation seekers.

At the Sandbar, you can choose from 60- or 90-minute massages, reflexology treatments, or even a unique Four Hands Massage, where two therapists work in tandem to melt away every ounce of tension. The soothing ocean breeze and the sound of waves crashing nearby create the perfect backdrop for ultimate relaxation.

But the Sandbar is more than just a massage spot—it’s also home to a beachfront restaurant and bar where you can enjoy fresh food and cocktails. Whether you indulge in a massage before or after a meal, you’ll feel truly pampered. If you’re ever in Cabo, make sure to plan a visit (and hopefully avoid the storms)!

Cabo San Lucas offers a perfect blend of relaxation, adventure, and culture. Whether you’re lounging at a resort, hiking with burros, or sipping margaritas in Todos Santos, there’s something for everyone. I hope my list of things to do inspires your next trip to this incredible destination!
